Can I use table varnish to seal a pencil drawing?
I’ve recently completed a pencil drawing and if you touch it at all, it manages to smear like crazy. I’d go out to buy some actual varnish for art, but I’m absolutely broke. And I stumbled across some table varnish in my home.
Would it be okay to use this as a substitute?
Sure. Why not?
Although, there’s lots of different kinds of varnish/urethane, some are water-soluble before hardening, some have a gloss finish, some not. So read the can and base your expectations on that.
I’d maybe try to water it down and spray it.
